B.Tech credit transfer is the formal recognition of engineering credits you have already cleared at one UGC-recognised university by another UGC-recognised university, so that you re-enter the programme at the academic year those credits support instead of restarting the degree. Under the UGC and AICTE framework — operationalised nationally through the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), which holds a student's earned credits in a portable digital account — validated credits are transferable between recognised institutions, and lateral entry into the 2nd or 3rd year is the standard mechanism used to apply them.
At PRIST Deemed University and AVIT (Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation), this pathway is used for five recurring situations: a year-back detention where arrears blocked promotion; a discontinued course abandoned mid-degree for medical, financial or family reasons; N+2 maximum-duration expiry where the parent university has closed the registration permanently; accumulated standing arrears that repeated attempts have not cleared; and diploma lateral entry, where a 3-year polytechnic diploma admits the student directly into the 3rd semester.
The result is zero-year-loss degree completion: only credits never earned have to be repeated, and the degree issued at the end is a UGC-recognised B.Tech from a Deemed to be University whose institution is an AIU member — accepted for private employment, PSU and government recruitment, postgraduate admission in India, and overseas study following standard WES or ECA evaluation. Eligibility is established by a subject-by-subject audit of the official grade sheet before any seat is discussed, because the entry year has to be supported by evidence, not by an estimate.
